How to Fix Neato D7 Botvac Pairing Mode Wi-fi Not Visible

The Neato D7 Botvac is a work horse, keeping the house clean each day without lifting a finger. Well, until one day, they dropped off the wifi and would not show the pairing mode wi-fi to reconnect them. This post covers how to fix Neato D7 Botvac pairing mode Wi-fi not visible. In a rush, jump to the solution.

The Problem: Neato D7 Wi-fi Not Showing

Your Neato D7 botvac is not connected in the Neato app. Despite trying all the troubleshooting in the manual, you cannot get it to connect. You have followed the instructions and removed the botvac from the app. Then you have put the botvac in pairing mode, the light is flashing correctly, but no Wi-fi network for the botvac is showing.

Resolution: Fix Neato D7 Botvac Pairing Mode Wi-fi Not Visible Using Factory Reset

A factory reset will reset the botvac to the state it arrived new, including rolling back the firmware. Neato do not recommend this procedure and it’s only thanks to woutske on Reddit who posted the reset instructions in this threa: Now have a new issue with D7 Robot. It won’t allow me to connect to the robot itself. : botvac (reddit.com)

WARNING FOR D3 AND D5 OWNERS

A factory reset is strongly NOT recommended for Neato D5 or D3 which were manufactured before the 16th week of 2018. If you don’t know the date of manufacture, you should contact Neato support team via https://neatorobotics.com/pages/customer-care or through Neato socials (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).

Instructions

  1. Open the app and remove the botvac from the Neato app.
  2. Power down the botvac by pressing and holding the power button until the botvac turns off.
  3. Remove the dirt bin.
  4. Press and hold both the left-front and left-side bumper. (Same side as the power button). Make sure both bumpers are being pressed inside.
  5. While holding down the left-front and left-side bumpers in place, press the power button once to power on the botvac then only release the power button.
  6. Keep holding the left-front and left side bumpers for 10 seconds then let go.
  7. Botvac will go through a reset process; this may take up to 10 minutes. The two LEDs on next to the power button will flash (this is normal behavior). When the process is finished, the botvac will reboot.
  8. Wait until the botvac completes the reset process. Once the botvac has finished the reset process, it will reboot itself and the power on music will play.
  9. Place the dust bin back in the botvac.
  10. Reconnect the botvac using the app. (This process is the same as connecting a botvac for the first time)

THANK YOU!! Our D7 went offline mid vacuum one day (around the time you published this I believe) and I could never get it back online after reinstalling app and other troubleshooting tips. I forgot about it until last minute company was expected and I wanted D7’s help and found this page today.

Even during add new vac set up, app became stuck on the “name your vacuum” screen. I reset vac, reinstalled app once more, used different robot name JIC and was delighted it all came back to normal. The best surprise was app/account had retained my home’s map which allowed me to hit the ground running.

Thank you again for this page!!

Thank you!!! My D7 lost its mind one day more than a year ago after working flawlessly for about a year. I tried replacing the battery, performing the hard and soft resets, talking with Neato support, moving the robot, deleting the app, etc. Nothing worked. Out of desperation, I sent it off to Funai Services for repair. I explained the WiFi was my main issue. They said nothing was wrong and it worked fine for them. However, when I received the robot back from them, I had the same connectivity issue. I again tried the hard rest to no avail. On a whim, I googled this issue and found this post. I just tried it and worked! I wish I found this earlier as I would have saved me a lot of time and money. Funai did replace the side brush belt and battery, but I could have done that myself. I am saving this post and sending this to friends that also have a Neato.

Thank you Tim! I’m sure I would’ve lost a few hours on hold with Neato support if I hadn’t found this! Similar to another poster, my D7 was stuck at the “name robot” screen in the app and the list of available wifi networks was empty.
All good after the reset though.
Floor map came back and everything.

After hard reset (d7 connected) I am able to add again the robot in the app but now there isn’t any floor map and furthermore the app doesn’t show the map command to make a new one. It keeps asking me to update the robot software but the update fails over and over and so I’m not able to use my robot again. Any suggestion?! :-/

Thank you for the suggestion and really useful guide. It is now asking me to update the robot software to version 4.5.3-189 but fails and says “server or file configuration error. Please contact customer care”

Any ideas? I’ll get hold of neato in the week but am assuming they will be useless.

Many thanks
Dave

TANK YOU! I was ready to buy an older model. D5 was connected to our wifi but no matter how I followed official documentation I could connect to it. This helped and took just a few minutes.

I did the factory reset on mine and it also would not update to 4.5.3 so mapping and no-go lines did not work. I managed to get it updated by connecting an USB drive to the Botvac and upgrading manually.

Here’s a forum post with the update file and some instructions.

Now it will not download or make a new map and I have to close all doors to keep it out of rooms. If I don’t find a fix soon this one is going to be replaced by something else.

Spot on Tim. My D7 wasn’t seeing any networks and needed manual entry, then wouldn’t complete the naming process. May your pet budgie bless you 😉 it took me several pointless hours of face palming.

Hi
Thanks a lot for this procedure! It works!
I’ m now facing a new issue: when I want to register my D7 on the app, I can’t pass the step « name your robot ». It doesnt work. How can I fix this issue?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Amandine

Hello

I am glad this part helped. I would uninstall the app and then reinstall. If that doesn’t work, I would go direct to Neato support to see if they know how to fix is.

Thanks
Tim

hi my neato d7 is acting funny when i want it to vacum it will blink the navagation light then go to solid red how can i fix it

Tim, you’re a legend! Tried to resuscitate my D7 after years of not using it but it just wouldn’t go past the ‘enter name’ stage. By chance ended up on your page (cheers Google!) and figured it was worth a try. What can I say, Mildred is back in action 🥳
